Abstract
“Empirical research shows that insufficient appreciation exists in international public policy making circles of the role of knowledge in innovation systems (Grewal, 2007). This situation is problematic because knowledge is historically linked to innovation, wealth production, and improved social and cultural life (Burke, 2000; Landes, 1998; Mokyr, 1990). Of more specific interest is that research shows knowledge-related policy production around the world is susceptible to charges of being anti intellectual, and of focussing very narrowly on commercial and technological issues at the expense of fundamental social, cultural, and quality of life initiatives (Graham & Rooney, 2001).”
NB: This submission contains well-documented supporting research and statistics, and also provides a solid overview of knowledge economies.
