Lyn Beazley

Lynda Dent Beazley BA MA PHD is Western Australia’s Chief Scientist and the first woman to hold the role. She is also one of the world leaders in mapping pathways through the brain and central nervous system, and is the head of the WA Neurotrauma Research Program as well as a Professor of Zoologoy at the University of Western Australia.

Beazley was born 3 July 1944, and moved to Australian in 1976.

Professional
Beazley came to Australia from the UK in 1976 and worked as a Research Fellow at UWA. In 1983 she became the principle research fellow of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). This was a post she would hold for 10 years. In 1994 she became a Professor of Zoology at the University of Western Australia, and, after 30 years of research in this country, in 2006 she became WA’s Chief Scientist.
