Abstract

“The National Committee for Space Science (NCSS) comprises the primary expertise of the Australian Academy of Science on space science, technology and associated education ... The collective vision and recommendations of NCSS and the Australian space science community are outlined in the Plan and this submission. They involve an enhanced, recognizably Australian, innovative, well supported, national space science effort that (1) performs world-class scientific and technological research, both fundamental and applied, (2) develops the capability to lead space projects of particular relevance to Australia and participates at a high level in international space efforts, (3) increases the numbers and scientific/engineering literacy of school and university students and Australia’s workforce, reversing current trends, and (4) better positions Australia’s economy, society, and Government in the world.”
