“The University of Sydney believes that space science and technology are a major part of Australia’s research portfolio that is world-class and should be invested in significantly more by Government. The benefits to the nation of investing in space science are numerous and span most sectors of society, industry, and government. As well great scientific interest, the field involves applied science and services of increasing economic, management, and strategic importance to all levels of Australian government and to Australian society. Moreover, this is a very attractive and inspirational area for school and university students, as well as for members of the workforce and general public, and it is very well suited for increasing the capabilities of Australians in the fundamental sciences, mathematics, engineering, and applied science.”
